I'm an experienced designer, educator, writer and administrator located in the Boston area.

Whether it be on page or on screen, in the classroom or the boardroom, my specialty is taking complex subjects and distilling them down to the basics.


Multifaceted designer, educator and writer who emphasizes user-centered design and specifically user experience. Author of best-selling books on web technologies including HTML5, CSS and Dreamweaver. Experienced veteran of developing e-learning content and measuring student performance in an online environment. Producer and author of numerous educational videos on topics as far-ranging as Prototyping to HTML5 and Responsive Design.

I have strong experience in managing teams of creative people, both in the corporate world and education. I am also a well-seasoned educator and presenter and have consulted and/or led trainings across the US for clients such as Google, Microsoft, Sony, Canon, T. Rowe Price, Staples,Time/Warner and far too many software companies to list here.

Aquent Gymnasium is a MOOC that provides free, online training on topics critical to advancement within the Marketing, Creative and Digital professions. The goal is to help these professionals remain competitive in a rapidly-changing field and help clients gain access to a pool of qualified professionals.

I am largely responsible for ensuring the quality of the courses offered. This includes locating and evaluating potential instructors, developing an e-learning pedagogy, collaborating with current instructors on their curriculum and managing the final course content (quizzes, assignments, videos and project files).

June 2009 - February 2013

Designed, developed and documented creative projects in a wide range of media including websites, mobile applications, e-learning curriculum, books and videos. Created courseware, conducted trainings and consulted with organizations.

Responsible for UX design in initial stages of Contributions included creating task analyses for user requirements, page description diagrams, HTML wireframes and prototypes. Contributed to HTML and CSS templates for desktop and mobile versions of site.

Onsite consulting role with companies and design agencies including Google/Zagat, T. Rowe Price, Staples Corporate, Hill Holiday, Arnoldworldwide among others. Projects include HTML5 workflow, e-pub workflow, UX design and training on new features in the Adobe Creative Suite.

Have designed HTML, CSS and graphic assets for more than 500 videos on topics including HTML5, CSS3, Dreamweaver, mobile design, prototyping and Web Standards. Videos have been distributed as instructional DVDs as well as online streaming on and



April 2009 – 2010

Wordstream created a web application that helps companies with large-scale websites make their Search Engine Optimization and advertising efforts more efficient by providing a method of analyzing, viewing and leveraging keywords. I consulted with the CEO and VP of Marketing and Product Development on usability, technology and strategy issues for upcoming releases of their products and website. Specifically I created prototype sketches and UI recommendations as well as conducting usability tests.

Managed team of 12 full-time instructors and several freelance trainers out of Aquent training centers in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Orlando and Chicago.

Responsible for improving instructor familiarity with CSS and HTML best practices as well as integrating awareness of usability, information architecture, dynamic languages (PHP), content management systems and other industry standards.

Managed the XHTML & CSS assessment used to evaluate potential designers and developers.

Designed video players for web and dvd-rom as well as managed team of video editors and web producers for the in-house video training produced by Aquent.

Authored a series of competitive analysis presentations for Adobe's global marketing staff.

  • Oversaw a program that grew from 0 to 70 students in 18 months.
  • Graduates of the program had job placement rates in the 90-percentile in the time range for which I was responsible.
